From April 24th to 26th, 2024, Tokyo Big Sight hosted “Japan IT Week Spring 2024,” a major IT event featuring around 900 companies in various AI and IT-related fields. Axell Corporation and ax Inc., along with their nine partner companies, exhibited at the event.

Following the previous report on the “Embedded/Edge Computing Exhibition,” this part will cover the “IoT Solutions Exhibition” with companies like iBASE Japan Inc., Daitron Inc., and Arrow Electronics Japan Inc., and the “IT Operations Management & Data Center EXPO” featuring Okaya Electronics Corp., providing insights along with comments from their respective representatives.

iBASE Japan Inc.

Taiwan-based iBASE Japan Inc. specializes in the design and manufacturing services of industrial computer products, including network appliances and transportation solutions. At the event, they showcased a variety of on-site specific modern devices such as industrial motherboards and panel PCs for automation applications, including an edge AI solution utilizing the Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 processor in collaboration with Axell, allowing live demonstrations of its operation.

Daitron Inc.

As a technical trading company in the electronics industry, Daitron Inc. offers a wide range of electronic devices and manufacturing equipment. Their booth displayed solutions for remote monitoring, predictive maintenance, production management, local 5G, IoT data utilization, and devices such as communication modules/sensors. Services incorporating Axell’s AI DX app ‘ailia DX Insight’ were also introduced to enhance business efficiency through AI.

“Our customers have shown strong interest in Axell’s ‘ailia DX Insight,’ reaffirming the high level of attention corporate AI-driven DX is receiving. The most notable feature is the text search capability. It used to be a time-consuming and labor-intensive task to dig through data archives like weekly reports, customer information, and inquiries to compile documents. However, using such apps not only saves time but also allows new staff to smoothly handle past information, leading to operational efficiency. Another major point is the ability to check where in the index was referenced, which can be applied for sales retrospection and ‘answer checking.’ The secure aspect provided by local LLMs is also highly valued (Electronic Device Sales, Kazunobu Kida).”

Arrow Electronics Japan Inc.

Arrow Electronics Japan Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:ARW) based in Centennial, Colorado, has been a global distributor providing electronic components, semiconductors, enterprise computing solutions, and services to industrial and commercial users since its founding in 1983.

This time, their group company, Chip One Stop, managed the booth, which featured live demonstrations of ‘ailia for NXP,’ developed in collaboration with Axell for embedded and IoT devices, reflecting the broad scope of their exhibition.

“Through handling Variscite’s SOM (System on Module) using NXP’s SoC/i.MX8M-PLUS, we connected with Axell, who have been a strong partner in developing services using AI. The collaborative products exhibited this time began with utilizing the NPU of SoC/i.MX8M-PLUS, commonly installed in embedded devices that have penetrated the IoT field. Until now, we haven’t been able to touch specific AI features in products, so deploying apps utilizing AI is precisely the area we will focus on from here on. We plan to concentrate on providing services in the logistics, surveillance cameras, and edge AI device sectors going forward (Product Marketing, Tetsuya Tosa).”

Okaya Electronics Corp.

Okaya Electronics Corp., a core technical trading company in the information and electronics division of Okaya & Co., which has a history of over 350 years, leverages its long-standing experience as a major IT company’s distributor to broadly propose solutions for business challenges. Their booth included demonstrations of various products and services from IT companies, including live demonstrations of Axell’s AI DX app ‘ailia DX Insight.’

“Our company primarily handles the distributorship for major semiconductor companies, and we offer proposals that package AI and solutions as added values. Throughout our collaboration with Axell, we have worked together on building services to solve the challenges our customers face in business using AI. Axell has deep expertise in AI, and whenever there is an issue, they help us find solutions. Introducing the AI DX application ‘ailia DX Insight’ at this event for the first time, the app comes equipped with many features that can solve business challenges in one stop and also offers additional convenience. Given the current focus on AI-driven DX, a DX app that can cover a wide range of needs is extremely useful (Technology Division, Tomoya Kondo).”
